Dr. W. Selvamurthy

Dr. W. Selvamurthy is presently working with Amity University as President, Amity Science, Technology and Innovation Foundation, Director General for Amity Directorate of Science and Innovation and Chair Professor for Life Sciences. He is also designated as the Chancellor, Amity University, Chhattisgarh.

Dr. Selvamurthy did his Masters (M.Sc.) in Human Physiology from Christian Medical College, Vellore (1972) and Doctorate (Ph.D) (Faculty of Medical Science) from Delhi University (1982) and Doctorate of Science (D.Sc.) from Bangalore (2006). He was also awarded D.Sc. (h.c) from five universities in recognition of his outstanding research and development contributions in Life Sciences.

Dr. Selvamurthy has served Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Government of India for 40 years in which, all the health related life science research technologies were developed and inducted in the Armed Forces for keeping the health and efficiency of soldiers even in extreme operational environments. This biomedical research immensely benefited the Armed Force personnel and gave a lot of spin off benefits to the society at large. His R&D contributions include development of life support technologies for soldiers, NBC Defence Technology, Nano Technology Application for Defence, Application of yoga for the Armed Forces, Military psychology and others. He was the leader of the first Indo-Soviet scientific expedition to the Arctic Circle for polar physiology research. He superannuated from DRDO on 28 February, 2013 as Chief Controller, Research & Development (Life Sciences & International Cooperation).

Dr. Selvamurthy was closely associated with Department of Science and Technology (DST) for the promotion of health related research. He was Chairman of PAC in DST in the field of Health Sciences for International Co-operation with many countries for more than a decade. He was also the Area Co-ordinator for Biomedical technology under ILTP programme with Russia. Heis steering the proposal for iconic flagship programme on health at the India-European UnionGSO meeting at Delhi and also in Brussels.

He is presently member of the Scientific Advisory Committee to Cabinet (SAC-C), particularlyin the field of Life Science, including health research. He is the Chairman of ProgrammeManagement Board in the Society for Bio-medical Technology. He is a member of the HighPowered Committee appointed by ICMR to review its 12th plan proposal. He is also an expertmember in the Department of Biotechnology, ICMR and CSIR. He has been a member of theIndian delegation to World Health Assembly under the Chairmanship of Health Minister tospeak about the complimentary systems of medicine including Yoga. He has represented ourcountry at the Organization for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) at the conference ofSate Parties, Executive Council, Working Group and Confidentiality Commission. TIFAC hasentrusted the responsibility of Technology Vision (Health) – 2035 to Dr. Selvamurthy asChairman to formulate Vision for the Nation for Health & Medical Sciences till the year 2035.

In recognition of his significant contribution to Biomedical research and development, he hasbeen awarded a number of prestigious research awards, including CSIR "National Award forS&T Innovations" presented by Hon'ble Prime Minister of India (2012), Academician MirsaidMirrakhimov award for "Contribution to High Altitude Medicine" from Kyrgyz Republic (2012),"Technology Leadership Award" by DRDO (2010) presented by Defence Minister, LifetimeAchievement Award from Hon'ble President of India in the field of Clinical and PreventiveCardiology (2006), ICMR Shakuntala Amir Chand Award (1986) and more.

Professor P.B. Mangla

Professor P. B. Mangla had his higher education at three prestigious Universities, viz. Panjab University(Chandigarh), University of Delhi and Columbia University, New York (USA). He obtained his Master's degree in History from Panjab University, and, degrees in Library & Information Science from the University of Delhi and then Columbia University, New York. At the University of Delhi he was a student of Dr.S.R.Ranganathan, father of library science and library movement in India. While at Columbia University he had the opportunity to study and do research under the guidance of well known scholars of the world. He was a Rockefeller Foundation Scholar for his studies at Columbia University during 1960s.

Presently he is a Tagore National Fellow under the Government of India Ministry of Culture since 2010. This Fellowship Scheme has been instituted by the Union Government in connection with the 150th Birth Anniversary of the great India luminary RabinderNath Tagore. This is a prestigious Fellowship and funded generously to be at par with the basic pay of a Central University Vice-chancellor. Till now he is the only academic who has been honored with this Fellowship in the country in his field ofspecialization and has been called as a 'legendary scholar and authority in the field of Library Science'.

Earlier, he served the University of Delhi for almost four decades out of which 29 years as a Professor of Library & Information Science. He had the distinction of being appointed as a full-fledged Professor at the age of 36 years which was a matter of real achievement in his career. During his tenure in the University of Delhi he held several senior and prominent positions such as Head of the Department; Dean, Faculty of Arts; Dean, Post-Graduate (Evening) Studies ( which had an enrolment of about 1500 post-graduate students); and, Chairman, Board of Research Studies (H). He was a Member of Court of the University of Delhi almost for three decades, as also, of its Executive Council (EC), and, Academic Council (AC) which are the highest policy-decision making bodies of the University, for several years. He functioned as Chairman, Governing Body, of two prestigious Colleges of the University of Delhi, namely, Deshbandhu College, and Dyal Singh College, for several years.

He worked in Iran as an Expert, and, in Guyana (West Indies) as a Unesco Consultant for several years. He has already visited about 50 countries for professional consultancy or assignments.

In India he has been closely associated with several Expert Committees/Working Groups, Selection Committees, etc. of the Government of India, State/UT Governments, Planning Commission, UPSC, UGC, CSIR,DST, Universities, and other Public and Private sector organizations. To mention a few, till recently, he was a Member, Research Council, National Institute of Science Communication and Resource Centre (NISCAIR) under CSIR; Working Group on Libraries of the National Knowledge Commission; Board of Management, National Library(Kolkata), Raja Rammohun Roy Library Foundation (RRRLF) (Kolkata), and, presently he is continuing as a Member, Delhi Library Board and RRRLF . The last three bodies are under the overall charge of the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India.

He has delivered prestigious Lectures in India and abroad and has been honoured with Awards, Citations, etc, nationally and internationally. To give as an example, in 2003 hewas invited by the UNO to be one of the 5 Speakers from different parts of the world for a Conference held at the UNO Headquarters, New York. He was honoured with Fellowship by the Indian Library Association (FILA) in 1983 and Membership, the Institute of Information Scientists (M.I. Inf. Sc.) London, in 1979.

Dr. Jugal Kishore

Dr. Jugal Kishore is a medical educator and public health expert; did his secondary school education from JamiaMiliaIslamia. He is part of development of various departments particularly Community Medicine in BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Nepal and the Center for Occupational & Environmental Health at LokNayak Hospital, New Delhi. His more than 200 research papers are published in journals, in magazines, and in dailies. He is authored two dozen books and many chapters and pamphlets on public health, national programs, social reform, and rationality. He is member of many expert groups of health planning and implementation of the government. He is the recipient of "RashtryaEktaPuruskar", "Dr. S Radhakrishnan Memorial Teacher Award 2007" and in 2009, President Appreciation Award in 2016 and also "ChikitsaRatan" in 2016. His scientific and rational outlook attracts international body and made him Hony. Director of Center for Inquiry Delhi, founder of Sabasva foundation and KISHORE Foundation and Secretary General of Indian Association for Adolescent Health. His mission is to liberate the man through education and development of public health.

Dr. Dimbeswar Bora

Dr. Dimbeswar Bora, former Additional Director, National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme, Delhi was an eminent Public Health personality. He played pivotal role in the Eradication of Guinea Worm and Yaws diseases from India & initiated systematic contry-wide Soil Transmitted Helminths (STH) survey.

Dr. Bora had long association with Indian Society for Malaria and Other Communcable Diseases (ISMOCD). He was associated with the Society since 1997 till 2010. He had played the pivotal role in organizing annual coferences of the Society in different parts of India. He has been holding the charge of Managing Editor of its mouthpiece publication Journal of Communicable Diseases since 2000 till date.

Dr. Bora has published more than 50 papers in national and international journals on varipus topics on communcable diseases, besides several intra-institutional publications. Dr.Bora compiled and edited monograph on guineaworm disease in India, besides preparing detail country report on both guineaworm and yaws disease. He was member of International Certification Team (ICT) for Guinea Worm and Yaws Eradication programmes. He also compiled and edited another book tittled "Yaws Elimination in India- A Step towards Eradication" published by NCDC & WHO India Country Office

He got WHO fellowship in Epidemiology from CDC, Atlanta. Indian Society of Malaria and Other Communicable Disease conferred "Glorious Personality of the Association" Award to Dr. Bora on the occasion of the XIth Annual Conference of ISMOCD & IAE in June 2016.

Wg Cdr Ranjit Kumar Mandal

Wg Cdr Ranjit Kumar Mandal is a post graduate in English and Education and has 36 years of experience in the field of education. He has taught in school, college and a University during his career and has vast experience in educational administration. After his work in a Junior college as a lecturer he joined the Indian Air Force as a commissioned officer in the education branch and worked for 25 years. He rose to the position of the Joint Director of Education during his service in Indian Air Force and had a unique opportunity of controlling activities of 250 schools of Indian Air Force. He worked in a Sainik school and was a part of the management committees of several schools. On his voluntary retirement from the Indian Air Force he has worked as a founding principal in two international schools and worked as a visiting faculty of Karnataka Women's University, Bijapur. Currently he is working as the founding principal of BGS World School, Chickballapur and simultaneously over-viewing the functioning four other World Schools of Sri AdichanchanagiriShikshana Trust, Karnataka. He is an author of about 8 books and continues to write on social and educational matters. He is currently editing a research journal titled 'Journal of Advance Research in English and Education'.
